‘Sometimes’ is the brand single from Karim Fanous, a rising singer-songwriter on the rock/pop scene with a soaring, powerful voice that has the delicacy but intensity to transport you, through his personal and pondering lyrics and upbeat style.
2007 was a breakthrough year for Karim Fanous, a debut album received widespread critical acclaim and his arrival once the UK music scene was confirmed when he scooped The Best Singer / Song-writer award at The Glasswerk New Music Awards in London last year. Citing influences from such varied greats as The Black Crowes and Oasis through to Joni Mitchell, Karim's music takes an interesting perspective and original approach. Sophisticated lyrics, and his extensive classical music training indicate the talent this new singer holds. Karim has spent most of his adult year in the UK and this is reflected in his songwriting that sees him mix a wide range of influences with a very British psyche under pinning each track, sometimes with a dash of humour, sometimes self effacing, sometimes quirky, sometimes melancholy, always beautiful.
Karim Fanous is a stark contrast with his creative guitar work that embraces blues, rock and simple pop to create some tight, irresistible tunes : Room Thirteen
...an exciting songwriter and a million miles from the stagnant pool of acoustic strummers writhing in eternal open mic-nights...a true breath of fresh air : Studentpages.com
With a very diverse background- raised initially in Saudi Arabia by a Palestinian father and a quarter-Syrian, quarter-Turkish and half-Greek mother, Karim uses his mixed nationality and heritage as tools for branching out to fans of all musical genres, and people from all walks of life. He also powerfully identifies himself as British, as his family moved to London when was 7 and he has spent the rest of his life there, nurtured and embraced by British culture and also very proud and aware of his Arabic/Greek roots. Karim will embark on a full UK tour to promote ‘Sometimes’ and you can catch his unique talent at the following venues :
Karim has a growing fan base, all simply enjoy his quirky, ironic and often amusing views on life, friendship and love. He takes his unique sound around the UK this Spring and a burning desire that simply says ‘I want to sing for you…’
