My Father's Good Name was formed in 2006 by Mike Clare. Mike had been singer in a couple of bands in years past, but it sucks when people don't share your enthusiasm. So, armed with the philosophy of "if you want something doing, you've got to do it yourself", Mike took up the guitar and set about writing some songs. A difficult task in theory, but a long term relationship with a she devil was all the fuel a man could ask for.

Love Through Bloodshot Eyes is a means to undertanding a painful break up, and if it helps others in any way, then you're welcome, brother. Armed with 16 songs, Mike hit the recording studio. When he came around and got back up again, he went in there, and said demos were recorded. But in this journey, one man can only take things so far. The demos were pretty good, but like a scrawny teenager, they needed filling out. A friend from college added some beat to a couple of songs. Good things. But it was clear that this all needed fresh ears.

Here entereth Mr. Trevor Ford. Trev had been on the gig circuit in his local town for many a year but life had got in the way and it'd fallen by the wayside. So the potential meeting of minds under the guise of MFGN was a glorious re-invention for both of them. And so work began to look at these well established demos and make them live. Live, dammit!!

After tentatively forming a 3 piece band with friend Tom Pendry and rehearsing for a couple of months, Mike and Trev hit the studio again. This time without incident. Mike played all the guitar parts, piano and vox, and Trev did his thang on the drums and backing vocals. Tom popped in a couple of times and killed a solo or two. Not in a bad way (though having said that, he is still trying to shake the nickname "bumnote" to this day). After several months work- 3 years work for Mike- the album was finished, all under the capable watch of studio engineer Bob Birthwright I must add. The work was done. The emotions had been conveyed.

("Tibetan Sand Mandala" by Mary Mueller) The central theme of « In Our Space » is the idea of building, of perhaps finding or reaching, a space where one is free to simply be themselves and do as they feel they should. At the personal level,…
