Slow My Head

Oh slow my head
It’s not broken; it just needs to stay in step
You stand there saying
I should never forget
Using my head

Wheels turning, I’m on fire
I’m bathed in anti social disease
If you strike a light you're gonna see my face
Staring back in disbelief

Feeling strange these days
Got the pain in my brain
Mans world going insane
Coming on in different stages I keep on turning pages
I can’t believe in a world I’m seeing too much pain

Wheels turning, I’m on fire
I’m bathed in anti social disease
If you strike a light you're gonna see my face
Staring back in disbelief

Hey, hey ohm, hey oh hey oh
Hey, hey oh, hey ohm

When I look for reasons
I can’t believe my eyes
When I look to the seasons
I can’t believe this crazy ride.

We’re all on
We’re all on, all on
Crazy ride
We’re all on
We’re all on
We’re all on
Crazy ride
Crazy, Crazy, Crazy
Crazy ride

Upon The Sea

A man adrift at sea dreams of a place that he would rather be
Feeling sick to his stomach as the waves heave him up and down again
But there is hope a light beckons on the horizon to set him free
and a lifetime passes before his eyes
As he rests upon the sea
Upon the sea.

But that was a lifetime ago when an ocean felt like tears upon a veil
And loneliness wasn't right taking comfort from the blowing of a whale
With the sea you pass a thousand years and you learn to quickly face your fears
And a lifetime passes before his eyes
As you gaze upon the sea and sky
So warily upon the sea.

I just want to let you know how I feel
This is something that I'd rather not conceal
Close your eyes the sea will sweep you off your feet
Don't want to throw in the towel admit your defeat.

A man adrift at sea can't think of a place he'd rather be
At home amongst the waves he dreams of a life that he has saved
And he is home he feels the tears welling in his eyes
Certain assurance from a lifetime that passed him by
Now he is free upon the sea
Now he is free upon the sea.

You Are Done

Why is it when you reach a certain age
You're not deemed important anymore
You're getting too old for this
Too old to bend too old to even touch the floor.
We live in a youth culture
The only thing that matters is when you're young
You reach a certain age and let's face it you're hung out to dry
You are done.

You are done etc.

The years they pass you by
And every year you become less relevent it seems
Bombarded by everything that's young
Discontent you didn't realize your dreams.
And every face on every magazine
Every television
Stares back and they're young
An old man stares back from the mirror
The sunken eyes tell you
You are done.

You are done..... etc.

It's all downhill it seems
You've reached a certain age
A resignation of what it all means
You know your life is worth nothing
No one wants you no one knows how you feel.
No one wants to listen to you
Hear your stories you might as well hold a gun
Wave a flag, wave your arms
Jump up and drown try to be noticed
You know that this aint much fun.

And you are done ....etc

Hey, sorry for the delay but here's an old one for you.

Love Or A Million?

What are you waiting for?
you want the world at your feet,
everyday your life is a bore,
no money to burn, no people to meet

CHORUS:
Love or a million,
Love or a million,
Love or a million,
What do you have to lose?

The biggest jackpot you ever saw,
is gonna change your life today,
fill your world with things you adore,
people smiling on your sunny day

CHORUS

You indulge yourself like never before,
enjoy the trappings your fortune brought,
impulses push you to want even more,
it's not easy now, so what were you taught?

CHORUS

It's all on the line now and you can see,
there's no way back for you my friend,
you risk it all for the dream to be happy...
Love or a million? it all comes to an end

CHORUS

I hope you like it, any feedback is welcom

Great pieces everyone, enjoyed the read. Hope you all had a good weekend and are having a good week.
Here's a short part of a lyric from a new song we are working on, hope you like it.
You get up in the morning sun shine
Rising up into the blueing sky
All aboard getting further down the line
All these things you buy to try to make you feel fine

Making it up as you go
Checked in to the main flow
Sweet talking
You try to catch a stare
Meanwhile walking like you don’t have a care

Changing everything changing
Nothings set in stone
Changing everything changing
All change here
All change here

THE VISION - is a song / poem I wrote with religion and war as the topic. I'm not a religious person but thought that the mixture of religion and war was a good starting point for a rock song
I wrote it just before the London July bombing which as it turned out involved four people from the north. The lyric/verse is based upon the Ezekiels Vision text, found in the bible.

I have made a few recordings of the track but none of them have yet found the right drive and feel, for what should be a good rock song. Here is the basic verse which I use to bulid the song lryics

Hilary Cooke - XES ROCK - Copywrite XESMUSIC 2005

Behold, a whirlwind from the north
Ezekiels vision, it came forth
four creatures living , with fire and thunder
god or the devil, who is 'I Am'

Behold, a whirlwind from the north
Ezekiels vision, it came forth
creatures with four faces, eagle, lion, ox & man
god or the devil, who is 'I Am'

A wheel within a wheel, it was so high
it came down to land , from the great sky
a wheel within a wheel, it was full of eyes
looking on the world, the spirits disguise

Son of man, stand on your feet
don’t lie on the ground, in defeat
rebellious nations, they will fear my call
the wicked shall die, they shall surely fall

Instrumental part

Behold, a whirlwind from the north
Ezekiels vision, it came forth
four creatures living , with fire and thunder
god or the devil, who is 'I Am'

Behold, a whirlwind from the north
Ezekiels vision, it came forth
creatures with four faces, eagle, lion, ox & man
god or the devil, who is 'I Am'

A wheel within a wheel, it was so high
it came down to land , from the great sky
a wheel within a wheel, it was full of eyes
looking on the world, the spirits disguise

Sons kill farther’s, farther’s will kill sons
war it shall destroy, all who come
those who bomb, the promised land
the wicked shall die, at my hand

Behold, a whirlwind from the north
Ezekiels vision, it came forth
four creatures living , with fire and thunder
god or the devil, who is 'I Am'

The Great God 'I Am'
God or the Devil 'I Am'
Who is 'I AM' ?

I will post a trial version of this on my page, It really needs some drums and a good lead guitar over this basic riff.
I will have another go at recording it but if anyone would like to add something to it you could join me on a jam

THE GREASY [w] RAPPER

Scrunched up there, in a corner of the underground car-park,
dirty and greasy,
used and discarded; does anyone care what was the former existence before being found here?
The wind blows cold, and the warmth that was once inside is now remembered in the passion of the rapping that spills from this scrap of flotsam.

Just a bit of fun

EXPOSED

It’s really such a pity,
when a lass with a bump
(who is otherwise pretty)
exposes her lump
to the whole of the city.

It truly doesn’t matter whether
her ‘tum’ got like that
from getting together,
or if she’s just fat;
it still should not be exposed - ever!

Please, dear young lady;
show a little decorum:
just think what your baby
would say, if he saw Mum
looking such a Gaby!
